Concord & 9th Feature Friday – Sweet Strawberries

Welcome!  I’m so happy you’re here…and I’m super excited to be posting again for Friday Feature over at Concord & 9th!  This week we’re showing off the super cute Sweet Strawberries Bundle…and goodness, I love it so!  I posted last week about summer celebrations…but for us summer is totally about strawberries, too.  So…first, let’s check out our bundle.

I gotta say…those berries are awesome!  Three sizes…and three different looks.  The flower bloom is super cute…and the sentiments are perfect.  And then…the dies.  Seriously…you gotta love the sweet word cut out…and then there’s the small piece that layers the large berry’s leaf that gives a 3-D effect.  Aack…LOVE!  For me…I really wanted to shake it all up by using some non-traditional berry colors…like this.

I cut several large berries in watercolor paper…added a different Distress Oxide ink to each one…and added water with a paint brush to move the color around a bit.  I then stamped each one in VersarMark using the circle berry stamp and embossed each with clear powder.  I added coordinating leaves in black…and attached them to a patterned paper front panel.  I added my stamped and die cut sentiment and silver sequins…and placed the front panel on my card base.

I went for something non-traditional for this card, too!  My first thought for this bundle was to create a large chalkboard-like berry…and that’s exactly what I did.  I added green coordinated leaves embossed with clear powder…several flower blooms…and placed it all on a kraft paper front panel partially embossed in clear powder with the Herringbone Background stamp.  I added some bright enamel shapes…attached the front panel to a coordinating card base…and tied it all up with a bit of white twine.

This last card kind of came about by accident.  I had all of the elements ready…but I just couldn’t figure out how to combine them for a look that I loved.  So I walked away…did a few dishes…and when I came back I loved the way I had left it all in a pile…not much different from what you see here!  I used the Gingham Background stitched diamond design stamp to give some interest to the center of my white card base…and embossed the large sentiment in black powder on a vellum card stock front panel.  I stamped and die cut a pair of strawberries… and attached them just above the sentiment.  I placed the front panel on my card base…and tied it all together with a bit of black and white twine.

Thanks for stopping by…and be sure to head over to the Concord & 9th blog to see more fun Sweet Strawberries projects!   I just know you’ll love the projects by my fellow June guest designers Becky and Lisa, too!
